Right, said Geoff

to the tune of 'Right, said Fred'
by Alison
written on Kestrels in 1969
"Right", said Geoff, "Someone take the tiller",
Back the jib and we're off the leeward bank.
Someone's boater got tangled in the motor.
And it got us nowhere.
And so we had a mug of Bev and
"Right", said Geoff, "Have to call up Morgan",
Up comes Morgan from the river bed;
After straining, quanting and complaining,
we was gettin' nowhere, and
So we had a mug of Bev and
Morgan had a think and thought we ought to
Throw out all the lockers,
And Jo and Pete the rockers,
But it did no good, well I never thought it would.
"All right", said Geoff, "Have to take the boom out,
To take the boom out won't take a mo";
Took the boom out, took the smallest room out,
Should have got us somewhere, but no;
So Geoff said, "Let's have another mug of Bev"
And we said, "Right Oh".

"All right", said Geoff, "Have to take the keel off;
Need more space to shift the so-and-so;
Hold her steady - Heck! It's off already!"
And that got us nowhere and
So we had a mug of Bev and
"Right", said Geoff, "Have to lift the mudweight,
What's this? Tied on with a granny bow?"
Took the weight off, even threw the mate off,
And it got us nowhere,
So we had a mug of Bev and
Morgan had a think and he said, "Look Geoff,
Try the quant to heave her,
use it as a lever,
Shove it through where there used to be a loo".
"All right", said Geoff, shinning up the halyards,
With his quantpole he gave a mighty blow;
Caught his big feet in half a mile of jib sheet,
Landed on top of his dome;
So me and Rev had another mug of Bev
And then we went home.
